MEDIC
ONE MAN. ONE GOAL: SAVE LIVES
The true story of how Jon Rieth walked away from everything to to save the lives of people he had never met
In 2016, as U.S. troops withdrew and ISIS surged, the Kurdish people were left to defend themselves against overwhelming brutality. Villages fell, families fled, and unimaginable horrors unfolded daily. From the safety of the West, most watched in silence. But for Jon Rieth, inaction was impossible.
Leaving behind comfort and security, Jon packed two 55-gallon barrels of medical supplies and boarded a plane to Iraq. His plan was naïve but noble: teach Kurdish fighters the basics of battlefield medicine. Once on the ground, however, Jon was pulled into the war itself. With no translator, no connections, and no clear path forward, he found himself thrust into the role of frontline medic.
Facing relentless gunfire, mortar attacks, and a bounty placed on his head by ISIS, Jon saved countless lives—while enduring the devastating reality of those he could not. What began as an act of service became a trial by fire, a crucible in which Jon discovered not only the limits of his endurance but the true meaning of purpose.
MEDIC is a feature-length documentary chronicling Jon’s transformation from civilian to war medic. Through immersive storytelling, never-before-seen footage, and firsthand accounts, the film explores how one ordinary man chose to do the extraordinary—and, in the process, redefined himself.
